Post-Remediation Verification (PRV)

What this assessment is for

A post-remediation verification confirms whether identified issues have been addressed following remediation work. It documents current conditions using similar methods to the original assessment—visual inspection, moisture measurements, and air or surface sampling where appropriate. This provides independent confirmation that conditions have improved and creates a record for your files.

When it's typically relevant

  • Remediation work has been completed and you want verification of outcomes
  • Your remediator has recommended independent clearance testing
  • You want documentation confirming conditions are now acceptable
  • An insurer or landlord requires post-remediation verification
  • You had our original assessment and want to compare before/after conditions

What it can and can't tell you

Can help clarify:

  • •Whether visible mould has been successfully removed
  • •Current moisture levels compared to pre-remediation conditions
  • •Air quality sampling results compared to baseline or guidelines
  • •Documentation of current conditions for your records

Cannot determine:

  • •Whether all mould has been removed (hidden mould may remain)
  • •Whether the remediation was done correctly (we assess outcomes, not methods)
  • •Guarantees that mould won't return (depends on ongoing moisture control)
  • •Whether the remediation company met their contractual obligations

How scope is determined

The scope of a PRV typically mirrors the original assessment - focusing on the same areas and using comparable methods so results can be compared. If we conducted the original assessment, we'll use that as the baseline. If another assessor did the original work, we can still conduct a PRV but will note the limitations of comparing across different assessors and methods.

Next step

An initial discussion helps determine whether this is appropriate for your situation.
