​​Jo Lia is a mother of three whose journey into building biology began over 20 years ago, when she was shocked to discover the array of chemicals present in everyday products for babies—hormone disrupting chemicals that are allowed in Australian food and products but banned in Europe. This revelation sparked a passion to understand the impact of environmental toxins on health, leading Jo to become a dedicated advocate for healthy living spaces.

Today,  Jo Lia is a leading building biologist, certified Electromagnetic Radiation (EMR) consultant, and IICRC-trained water damage restoration and applied microbial remediation technician. With a focus on creating safe, sustainable, and healthy homes, Jo specializes in assessing indoor air quality, water quality, and the impacts of building materials on health. Her work spans over a decade, during which she has evaluated homes, workplaces, and schools, witnessing firsthand how the buildings we spend time in can profoundly affect our well-being.

Jo’s expertise extends to measuring volatile organic compounds (VOCs), heavy metals, allergens, mould, and EMF exposure. Her focus is on preventive, long-term solutions that ensure healthier environments for years to come. Featured in health publications, podcasts, and on Channel Ten’s “Healthy Homes,” Jo’s insights empower individuals and professionals to make informed choices for health-conscious and eco-friendly building projects.
